Struthioniformes (Rheiformes)
RHEIDAE
Rheas. It is a unique
family of South americas, with three species, both in Argentina. Great riders, do
not fly. Walk in groups. Polygamous, the male incubated. Nest on the ground,
placed where large numbers of eggs creamy color.
They are huge birds, with small head, long neck and legs. The wings and tail
feathers lacked rigid. They have only three fingers, all forwards.

Dwells
in the mountains and the Patagonian steppe.



PUNA RHEA: Rhea tarapacensis
It
inhabits the Puna and mountainous area in northwestern Argentina.
