PODICIPEDIDAE
Of
the 18 species of this family, 6 living in Argentina. They are waterfowl,
zambullidoras. Vuelan little, Carret back to flight. Little walk, very upright
because they have legs far behind, with four fingers lobulados.
Beak conical,
short wings and tail rudimentary. Plumage compact.
They
feed on fish, crustaceans and aquatic insects. The nest is a platform floating
plants. When leaving the nest eggs covered with aquatic plants and therefore
stained gradually.
LEAST GREBE: Tachybaptus dominicus
He
was seen in aquatic environments in northern Argentina, reaching the Andean
Patagonia.

of Argentine territory.

GREAT GREBE: Podicephorus major
Interior room lakes and
ponds, even in height.
