Family PELECANIDAE
PERUVIAN PELICAN:
Pelecanus thagus

It
is a bulky marine birds, which amounts to 2.30 mts. wingspan.
Huge peak with a membrane as a bag in the jaw
lower. Inhabits the Pacific coast to Tierra del Fuego and the
Atlantic to northern Brazil. It feeds on fish.

In our country there are recent records
in the provinces of Tierra del Fuego, Chubut and Mendoza, so that the
considered accidental.
