Very similar to "Stercorarius
chilensis", considered by some authors as
two races of the same species.
The colour is dark brown streaks.

SOUTH AMERICAN TERN:
Sterna hirundinacea
Inhabits sea coasts of Patagonia. In
winter it was observed off the coast of the Province
Buenos Aires.
It nests in the colony. Place the eggs
directly into the soil, sand or rocky beaches.
The chicks have plumage mimetic.

There are authors who see
Sterna sandvicensis (Sandwich Tern) conespecíficos with S. eurygnatha, while
others give priority to specific name on sandvicensis eurygnatha, including both
as Sterna sandvicensis.
ROYAL TERN:
Sterna maxima

It inhabits the Argentine coastline.
The photograph was taken on the coasts to the Chubut province.
ELEGANT TERN:
Sterna elegans

It inhabits the Chilean
coast, the Pacific Ocean. Similar to S. maximum.
Somewhat smaller.
Immigration from North americas. It has recently been observed on the coast
Argentine sea, on the coast of Buenos Aires. The photo that was included
taken in Puerto Deseado and it could be this species.
