Inhabits coastal
marine Patagonian, andean lakes and ponds
interiors. Occasionally reaches the seacoast of the province
Buenos Aires.
It feeds on fish they catch with their long beak. Dive and swim accurately.
Head and back black with white shoulders and backspot. Yellow wattle. Blue lid. Ventral white.
KING CORMORANT: Phalacrocorax
atriceps albiventer
Phalacrocorax atriceps albiventer
regarded by some writers as a species apart
differs by having black cheeks and the back completely black, without white
patch
