Araucanian Forest
It extends to the west of Patagonia, over the slopes
of Los Andes Mountain Range, from the north of Neuquen until Tierra del Fuego.
The climate is humid, temperate in the
north and cold in the south.

It has rough relief, with
heights that reach 4,000 meters above sea level in Neuquén, falling until 800
meters in the south
The forest covers the craggy slopes which are interrupted by a number of
lakes, which some of them are glacial lakes.
The most typical tree
specie is the Araucaria. Antarctic Beech, Lenga Beech, Fitzroya, Drimys winteri
(Winter's Bark) and Nothofagus dombeyi (Coihue) are other species with presence
in the forest.
The highest and humid area can reach annual rainfalls of
4,000 mm, a real high jungle.
This circuit can be done in combination with Patagonian Coast
circuit, crossing the steppe, a typical ecoregion of our country, made of a cold
and windy plateau, with xerophilous vegetations and typical species of that
environment.
