It
inhabits forests in Misiones, the Yungas of northwestern Argentina
and wet forests and streams to the mountains of Cordoba and San
Luis. Black head. Back gray. Throat striated. Leaden chest, ventral
gray. Bill and legs yellow.

Some authors consider the
missionary race as a separate species (Turdus subalaris), a species not
recognized by BirdLife International and the SACC (South American Classification
Committee), which is why we continue with the traditional classification.
